Os jardins no contexto do turismo pós‑moderno. O caso de Portugal

The tourism industry matrix has changed and is assumed now as an industry of experiences
which have led to the increase of demand of landscapes for what they evoke, symbolize and represent. The gardens, spaces of various sensorial and visual sensations, are increasingly places to visit, of several activities or just for contemplation and be in. They are on the international agenda and the garden tourism experience a remarkable growth, the point of being considered a phenomenon of cultural tourism and the post‑modern society recreation. This research pretends to analyze national and international context of this niche tourism with the aim of demonstrating that the gardens are potential tourist spots with great border for improvement.
