Sistemas de conocimiento Mayas y turismo Premium en la Península de Yucatán

This article introduces the reader in the study of knowledge systems developed by Mesoamerican cultures –particularly by the Mayan culture‑,
in their historical transcendence and their importance in actual Mexico´s Yucatán Peninsula reality. Archaeological, ethnographical and ecological research are taken as a whole to analyze diverse activities performed by the heirs of this knowledge, such as salt gathering, forest use or Mayan religious ceremonies in the region of the archaeological site of Xcambó, in Yucatán State´s coast. The article also states heritage damages caused by the actual rise of tourism industry in Yucatán Peninsula, trough the analysis of the impact that the touristic and residential development Flamingo Lakes Golf and Country Club Resort has in cultural and natural heritage of coastal communities nearby Xcambó.
