Propuesta de desarrollo del turismo accesible en la reserva de biósfera Isla de Ometepe (Nicaragua)

This descriptive research, with a qualitative approach, was conducted to design a proposal to implement accessibility practices in the Biosphere Reserve Ometepe Island, by analyzing its potential as a major tourist destination in Nicaragua. The inductive method was applied to analyze the theory collected, through which it was possible to establish a framework in which the Accessible Tourism and its implications were defined, as well as the set of regulations governing the general level and specific level of protected areas, and initiatives that have implemented accessibility measures were identified. With this, it was possible to create the basis to design the Accessible Tourism development proposal on the island, starting with a certification model that strengthens the managing of accessibility in the Island; and concluding with the identification of sites of interest that have potential for practical implementation of accessibility.

Resumen: Esta investigación de tipo descriptiva, de enfoque cualitativo, fue realizada para diseñar una propuesta de implementación de prácticas de accesibilidad en la Reserva de Biósfera Isla de Ometepe, mediante el análisis de su potencial como destino turístico de importancia en Nicaragua. Se aplicó el método inductivo para el análisis de la teoría recopilada y se logró establecer un marco referencial, en el que se definió el Turismo Accesible y sus implicaciones, así como el conjunto de normativas que lo regulan a nivel general y a nivel específico de espacios protegidos, y se identificaron iniciativas que han aplicado medidas de accesibilidad. Con esto se pudo crear la base para la realización de la propuesta de desarrollo de Turismo Accesible en la Isla, comenzando por un Modelo de Certificación que fortalezca gestión de la accesibilidad en la Isla; y concluyendo con la identificación de sitios de interés que tienen potencial para la implementación de prácticas de accesibilidad.
