Los responsables del cumplimiento de la aplicación normativa turística son los integrantes del cuerpo de funcionarios de la Inspección Turística, que realizan un trabajo fundamental para el óptimo funcionamiento del sector y de la Administración. Sin embargo su tarea es en general poco conocida; con una labor que se asocia a una función estrictamente supervisora o disciplinaria. Pero realizan una función asesora y preventiva vital, y únicamente aplican la sanción cuando han fallado las anteriores actuaciones.
